I made a vow – outgoing mail

Hello everyone.
Again, I apologize that it has been such a long time since I last updated my blog. Since then, a lot has happened. I have been job hunting and have now found a position as a post office clerk, which is just the perfect job for me. Anyhow, every day I work I have been quite stricken by how many plain, white envelopes get send. And so now I have taken a vow to (I don’t want to say never, but that is basically the idea) send only letters out which have decorated envelopes. So here go my first two so far. I’m not a very artistic person, but I gave it a try πŸ™‚

This one is going to my friend Myra in Pakistan. The picture didn’t turn out that great but you get the idea.

This one is going to one of my highschool friends in the USA. I love the sticker!

creatively fighting boredom

Hi everyone!

So I’ve been pretty bored lately and decided to make a couple of new envelopes to eventually send around the world. I’m especially fond of the little elephant man, he looks so random and cute, I love it. Happy snailmailing πŸ™‚photo (25)

snailmail #3

11Hi everyone. Another snailmail post πŸ™‚ Yesterday I was studying, when my roommate walked in and handed me a pretty blue envelope. It had the cutest surprise in it and just made my day, Funny how a little piece of paper can just turn your whole mood around. I was so happy that I took a rather long study break and wrote a couple of snailmail pieces myself.

#1. A response to the happy kitten card. Β To keep with the cat theme I pasted a cool cat sticker next to her address. You might not be able to see in the picture put the cat is wearing a crown and royal cape.Β 10

#2. It’s mom’s birthday soon so I thought it would be nice to send her a birthday card and a tourist card from Melbourne.

#3. A response to a highschool friend in the USA. I love the postcard that I sent along. My university has this neat rack of advertisement postcards – and quite often they are really awesome. So i collect them and send them all over the globe. This one is for an exhibition in the State Library of NSW called “The impossible peace from war photographs to landscapes 1958-2011”.Β 13

#4. Another birthday card and a letter to my friend in Canada – hope it gets there in time. I love the new tape that I purchased. I put the same three stamps on every piece of mail. It was a little bit of a struggle at the postoffice. I think the lady behind the counter was having a bad day, and so my suggestion of wanting multiple stamps instead of the regular international stamp was not well received. With a little bit of patience it all worked out and now there are some new stamps floating around in mail space. πŸ™‚Β 14

This week’s snailmail :)

Hello everyone πŸ™‚

This weekend has been a busy snailmail weekend, I have been trying to send out a bunch of happiness to different parts of the world. 9The robot card is a birthday card to a friend in the US. It won’t get there on time, but it’s the thought that counts on this one. The strawberry envelope is made from scrapbooking paper and will travel to Canada πŸ™‚

6My mom told me that my aunt had a fall from a horse and the doctor has told her she has to rest for a while. So I decided that I should send her a kangaroo postcard and a cat stickered envelope (she loves cats) to wish her well. Hop to Belgium! 7The Australia postcard is going to a highschool friend in Boston. It’s so lovely that we use snailmail to keep in touch πŸ™‚ The duckie envelope is going to Israel to a classmate that I recently reconnected with.

8The penguin is incoming snailmail πŸ™‚ I have a couple of artsy friends and recently they have taken to drawing and doodling animals onto the envelopes. So far I have received a crocodile, a beaver, and a penguin. It makes me so happy to open the mailbox and receive a little bit of handwritten love!

I’ve been working on a new shawl and hope to have it finished fairly soon – pictures will follow! Have a lovely week everyone xx

15-3-2014 outgoing mail

Image

Hi everyone, I know it’s been a while. I dont have any new knitting projects to show, but I have been fairly busy with another hobby of mine – snailmail. I love snailmail and think it is just wonderful to open the mailbox to find a handwritten letter, knowing someone in the world took the time to sit down and write to you, the oldfashioned way.

This is a collage showing the mail that I have sent out the last 2 weeks. The top left is a package going to Canada, it contains one of the hats I knitted and a couple of postcards. The top right are letters for friends; I really love the little robot image on the envelope though I can’t seem to remember where I got it from. The second envelope is made out of scrapbooking paper. The Birthday puzzle card is for my dad, whose birthday is today. It doesn’t seem that the card has arrived yet, so hopefully it will get there soon. The last picture features some masking tape I got today, and am in love with. Rubber duckies are just so cute!

More snailmail to come πŸ™‚
